The Chrysler Group’s accessories division, Mopar, is well-known for its “go fast” upgrades to cars like the Dodge Challenger. But its latest offering is designed to make sure the company’s products actually don’t go too fast—or too far. That’s just one of the features of the innovative Electronic Vehicle Tracking System (EVTS), a new accessory that can provide real-time vehicle-tracking services and much more.
The base EVTS is a subscription-free stolen-vehicle tracking and locating service that relies on Guidepoint Systems—one of the country’s top providers of GPS-based stolen-vehicle recovery technology—to supply real-time GPS information about a vehicle’s location, even if it’s on the move. The entry-level EVTS offers nationwide coverage and is also fully transferable and upgradeable. And Mopar is so confident in this system that it comes with a $1,000 theft-protection warranty. The MSRP? Just $459 (installation extra).
Owners who upgrade to the EVTS Silver Plan enjoy all that functionality along with an impressive range of extra “peace of mind” features like the e-Call 24/7 emergency service dispatch system, an OnCall onboard panic button and more innovative GPS functionality. For example, owners who are letting the kids borrow the car can pre-set parameters for the vehicle’s speed and distance. If either or both are surpassed, EVTS can then send a text-message alert to the owner. Further, the system can be configured to provide text notification of when the vehicle arrives and departs at pre-set locations, as well as to display trace maps of where the vehicle has been. The Silver plan also includes up to 200 online tracking reports, for a one-year, renewable fee of $149.
The EVTS Gold plan, which is only available during the system’s installation, builds on that foundation by offering all the capabilities of the base and Silver systems while adding unlimited online vehicle tracking and access to full concierge services, including assistance with driving directions, restaurant reservations and more. The renewable one-year fee for Gold EVTS service is $249.
Owners of Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge and Ram vehicles with the 16-point diagnostic port can track down EVTS at local dealerships beginning right now.
