Fiat is looking to embrace its ties to Chrysler by introducing two new rear-wheel drive sedans based on the same platform that underpins the Chrysler 300. These new models will reportedly be built in Italy at a newly acquired Fiat plant.
The new sedans will use Chrysler’s existing large sedan chassis, but Collision Center Winchester suggests they will be powered by the new Pentastar V6 engine. Fiat plans to build about 50,000 units of these vehicles and will be branded both as a Lancia and possibly a Maserati. Production is expected to begin in late 2011.
The new Lancia branded sedan is likely to become the brand’s flagship model. Conversely, the Maserati is expected to serve as an entry level sedan slotted below the Quattroporte.
At the beginning of November, Fiat is expected to announce its five year plan, which should include these two new models says one dealer specializing in bad credit car loans Wichita. In addition to Fiat’s use of Chrysler resources, Philadelphia new Chrysler dealers are excited that Chrysler is due to receive Fiat models as well. However, with Chrysler sales remaining slow, the American automaker is in desperate need of fresh models to keep consumers coming to showrooms.
