With Chrysler pairing up with Fiat soon, it was only a matter of time before talk of Fiat cars and crossovers being sold stateside arose. Finally after talk surrounding the subcompact Fiat 500 begun, it has been confirmed that the popular minicar will be sold in the U.S. at Chrysler dealerships.
The Fiat 500 will be the first Fiat to arrive in the U.S. under the new partnership between the two automakers. Although Dodge Service Fort Worth is excited to see the stylish, modern, and fuel efficient car arrive here in the States, it unfortunately will not be available for at least another 18 months.
Fiat’s VP of Communications was the executive that confirmed the 500’s sale at Chrysler dealers. Fiat and Chrysler are both looking forward to bringing the 500 to American customers and are hoping that the Fiat 500 will be as well received as BMW’s Mini which was released a few years ago. Already Fiat is referring to the 500 as a “boutique car” which Connecticut Car Loans says is an indication that it will be more aligned with the sporty and stylish Mini Cooper rather than other more subtle subcompacts.
Although the sale of the Fiat 500 at Chrysler dealerships is good news to plenty of dealers and consumers alike, Hays Auto Parts says it’s still unknown what other vehicles are coming to North American. In addition, the other unknown variable is whether Fiat will rebadge their vehicles as Chryslers once they arrive. Regardless, Waldorf Dodge in Washington DC is eager to see these stylish minicars on the road as they’re help to dramatically revamp Chrysler’s image.
As platform and powertrain sharing is expected between the two automakers, Fiat has assured Chrysler customers that future vehicles sold in the U.S. will remain designed and built for the U.S. customer. But with the uniquely Italian Fiat 500 coming to the States, expect to see other minicars on the road soon.
