As one of the few all-new Chrysler product to be released in quite some time, the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee is incredibly important, and Fiat is looking to do everything it can to make it a success. This also means delaying the Grand Cherokee’s launch if it’s not perfect.
According to Fiat/Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne, the upcoming Jeep Grand Cherokee is a “signature vehicle” for Chrysler and “must be flawless.” Otherwise, he warned, it will simply not be launched on time.
Despite the importance of the Grand Cherokee for the automaker, which has had its fair share of financial difficulties, Marchionne has also continued to downplay the Chrysler’s struggles. At a recent forum help ahead of the New York International Automobile Show, Marchionne insisted that the company is making money, and that Chrysler’s break-even point was “much lower than people thought.”
Regardless, the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee is still crucial, and the competition in the midsize crossover segment remains fierce. While the Cherokee in the past as tried to move upmarket as observed by Woodbridge used Acura dealers, the latest generation appears to be more on par with what luxury SUV buyer demand, in terms of style, amenities, and power.
Look for it to arrive in showrooms (hopefully) by early July.
