Next month, the 600 Chrysler dealers that were given an opportunity to obtain a Fiat dealership will be chosen. Currently, the deadline for consideration is September 22.

Many Chrysler dealers are currently in Florida, where they have been shown the new U.S.-spec Fiat 500 Sport. Only 165 of the dealers given the chance to get a Fiat dealership will be allowed to have one, at least for now. Initially, the dealerships will exclusively sell the 500 minicar.

Once the new Fiat dealerships have been chosen, Chrysler says that the stores will be ready for sales in March of 2011. That’s a tight timeline for dealers to either revamp existing facilities or to create a new building from scratch. Roughly 303 Fiat 500s will be allotted per dealer, with an annual sales target of 50,000 units for the first year.
