For the second year in a row, the Chrysler Group has been named to the prestigious Diversity Elite 60 group by Hispanic Business magazine, which recognized the automaker as one of the country’s top organizations for promoting and modeling diversity in the workplace.
The publication analyzed more than 32 separate variables that go into showing a commitment to Hispanic hiring, promotion, marketing, philanthropy and supplier diversity, with only the top 60 companies in America being selected to the Diversity Elite. For Chrysler, that meant rolling out workforce diversity initiatives, putting into place strategies to reach more Hispanic customers and proactively seeking to boost business with minority- and Hispanic-owned suppliers. Notably, Chrysler stood out from the crowd for its work with suppliers and was ranked in the top tier of the Diversity Elite 60 in this component of the rankings.
Puyallup Used Car said Chrysler’s achievement is further evidence of the automaker’s long tradition of supporting diversity, which also includes such honors as being named one of the “100 Best Companies for Working Mothers” a full 12 times by Working Mother magazine, along with being recognized as one of the country’s top diversity-oriented corporations by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation on four separate occasions. And this dedication to diversity starts right at the top.
Earlier this year, Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne stepped up to the plate and took on the role of executive sponsor of the company’s Global Diversity Council, writing that “my leadership team and I are committed to creating an atmosphere where all of our people feel respected and valued, because every person plays an important role in shaping our future, including employees, our supply base, our marketing and our dealer network. Chrysler Group LLC and its people have a future with promise. We will reach the full measure of that promise only as one, united diverse team.”
