With so many problems affecting Chrysler, it’s just a matter of time before a number of models throughout their Chrysler, Jeep, and Dodge brands get axed. With gasoline on the rise, the dollar loosing its value, and the general cost of living going up, the embattled Chrysler needs to jettison dead weight if it hopes to turn their operations around. With that in mind, the top execs have their eyes on SUVs.
The sport utility vehicle segment has seen many changes recently. The once popular gas-guzzling mid and full size sport utility vehicles and trucks have been increasingly difficult to move off dealer lots. As a result, the automaker’s success will most likely demand of more fuel efficient and compact vehicles to help generate profits.
Already Chrysler has seen four models dropped, among them the Jeep Commander which received strong sales in its first year, but then subsequently faced steep sales declines. As the Commander essentially filled the same role as the Dodge Durango, Chrysler removed the Jeep as a way of eliminating redundancy throughout the brand and removing Chrysler vehicles that compete directly with other Chrysler models. Many dealers such as Hartford Dodge Jeep always saw that the model did not have the appeal needed to weather rising gas prices and growing competition.
While it looks to remove vehicles that appear to be hurting the brand, Chrysler is also on the verge of releasing new vehicles as well, which should appease Jeep Dealers Midland TX and other dealers. The newest of these releases is the Dodge Journey crossover SUV. With many SUV buyers looking to smaller crossovers, the Journey was an essential vehicle for Chrysler. In addition, the new Dodge Challenger and Ram will also soon be introduced. In addition, coming down the pipeline will also be a new Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango, and even further out a new Dodge Charger and Reading Chrysler dealer’s popular Chrysler 300.
Much is at stake as all automaker continue to struggle in North America. Unfortunately, Chrysler may be struggling a little more than other automakers. Luckily, they continue to make big changes that will hopefully yield a big payoff in the end.
